Presentation of the Digital Trade Hub was held
Center of Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) in cooperation with the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) (NCE) organized a ceremony for presentation of the Digital Trade Hub. In his opening speech, Vusal Gasimly, executive director of the CAERC stated that the Digital Trade Hub has identified new role of Azerbaijan in the intersection of the North-South and East-West corridors: “Azerbaijan offers the first digital trade hub in the Muslim and Turkic world. Best practices of the Great Britain, Estonia, Malaysia and other countries have been considered. The Digital Trade Hub has of vital regional importance as part of the complex economic reforms carried out under the leadership of the President.”
The further speech was made by the head of Azexport portal Zaur Garashov who presented electronic version of the Digital Trade Hub. In his speech, Zaur Garashov mentioned that the Digital Trade Hub will further facilitate contact with foreign partners offering electronic wallet and electronic signature, including ASAN Signature to non-residents. Furthermore, the Hub will enable non-residents to open business, bank accounts and undertake import-export transactions in Azerbaijan using electronic signature, including ASAN signature. The rule of electronic implementation of these transactions using the services of the portal was presented to entrepreneurs.
Sahil Babayev, Deputy Minister of Economy underlined the importance of the Digital Trade Hub presenting its potential of contributing expansion of export and increased investment in the country economy.
Mammad Musayev, president of the Azerbaijani National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) also underscored the important role of the Digital Trade Hub in increasing the access of entrepreneurs to global markets and introducing the state-of-the-art technologies.
During the ceremony of presentation of the Digital Trade Hub, several promotion videos were demonstrated to the participants of the event. One of these videos aimed at involving entrepreneurs to the Azexport portal. An important point worth attention was that the video has been built upon the message of the President Ilham Aliyev directed to entrepreneurs. The video commercial describes opportunities created by the state for entrepreneurs through this portal based on concrete facts. Another video commercial demonstrated the content of the Digital Trade Hub and the prospects it offers. The next video commercial prepared by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication dedicated to the opinions and projections of Mr. Michael Corb, Public Administration Minister of Estonia, Ingrid Rosten, representative of “Silicon Valley”, Sam Potolikkio, representative of the US-based Georgetown University, Michael Harms, Executive director of the German Eastern European Relations Committee on the Digital Trade Hub. In these opinions, the Digital Trade Hub has been presented as a project which would develop into an international project within a short period of time as planned. The final video commercial was dedicated to the promotion of the Azexport portal where famous Azerbaijani intellectuals and representatives of cultural sector, such as Chingiz Abdullayev, Fakhriyya Khalafova, Faig Aghayev, Rahib Azeri join the promotion of the portal. All these personalities are the “star ambassadors” of the Azexport portal in Azerbaijan and abroad. The promotional video calls all Azerbaijani entrepreneurs to be represented in this portal. At the same time, the video presented the Azexport as an Azerbaijani brand where the best made in Azerbaijan products are collected. To put differently, the video presented the Azexport portal as the image of Azerbaijani non-oil economy.
At the end of the ceremony dedicated to introduction of the Digital Trade Hub, questions of participants were answered.
It is worth to note that the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication is the operator of the Digital Trade Hub created by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on “Additional Measures aimed at Strengthening the position of Republic of Azerbaijan as the Digital Trade Hub and expanding foreign trade transactions”.
