Non-oil products amounted to 1 billion 94 million US dollars have been exported in January-August, 2018
Azexport.az portal has received an export order amounted 367 million US dollars in January-August 2018.
September issue of the “Export Review” 2018 prepared by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication has been presented. According to the issue, the export of the Republic of Azerbaijan amounted to 12.9 billion US dollars in January- August 2018 in accordance with the State Customs Committee. During this period, export in non-oil sector in the Republic of Azerbaijan amounted to 1 billion 94 million USA dollars. Export in non-oil sector in January-August 2018 increased by 131 million USA dollars or 14 percent compared to the same period of 2017. In January-August of the current year, exports of non-oil products to Russia amounted 375 million, Turkey 249.8 million, Switzerland 92 million, Georgia 88.5 million, and China 32 million US dollars.
Among the non-oil sector products exported in January-August 2018, tomato ranks first (144.4 million US dollars). The second place in this list is gold (81 million US dollars) and the third place is primary polyethylene with weight factor less than 0.94 (63 million US dollars).
Generally, in January-August 2018 exports of fruits and vegetables amounted 316 million, plastics and its finished products 90 million, aluminum and its finished products 91 million, electricity 60 million, ferrous metals and its finished products 57 million, cotton fiber 58 million, exports of chemical products 41 million, exports of cotton yarn 14 million US dollars.
In comparison with the same period of 2017, within 8 months of 2018, export of electricity has grown by 64 percent, cotton fiber by 35 percent, plastics and its finished products 22 percent, exports of fruit and vegetables by 17 percent, aluminum and its finished products 14 percent, ferrous metals and its finished products by 1 percent.
Export of non-oil sector in August of the current year amounted to 125 million US dollars. In August 2018, the most non-oil goods exported to Turkey (34.5 million US dollars), Russia (22 million US dollars), Switzerland (13.9 million US dollars), Ireland (10 million USA dollars) and Georgia (7.2 million US dollars). In August 2018 gold ranks first in the non-oil sector export (12.6 million US dollars), the second place in the list is cotton fiber (12.4 million US dollars), third is untreated aluminum (8.4 million US dollars).
The September issue of the "Export Review" ranks the main exporters of non-oil sector. In January-August 2018, the top ten list of the non-state companies of non-oil sector includes the representative office of "Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited" in the Republic of Azerbaijan, "Kapitan Fruits" LLC, "MKT İstehsalat Kommersiya" LLC, Baku Steel Company LLC, "Qala meyvə-tərəvəz ixracat idxalat" LLC, “Food Export Shamkir” LLC, “Azfruittrade” LLC, "Azerbaijan Sugar Production Association" LLC, “Sun Food” LLC and Iskanderov Sahib Samad oghlu.
SOCAR's Marketing and Economic Operations Department ranks the first in the list of the state-owned companies involved in non-oil export operations and exporting. The following companies are: “Det Al Aluminum” LLC, “Azerenerji” OJSC, “Azerbaijan Airlines” CJSC, “Azergold” CJSC, "SOCAR Methanol" LLC, “CTS-Agro” LLC, “Storage and Supply of Provisions" OJSC, State Energy Service of Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic and Surakhani Machine Building Plant Company OJSC.
The Export Review also highlights service export. It was noted that in January-August, 2018, “Azercosmos” OJSC exported satellite telecommunication services and optical satellite services to 22 countries of the world. In the first eight months of the current year, “Azercosmos” OJSC has received 15.3 million US dollars from the export of satellite and telecommunication services. Profit from the service export of "Azerkosmos" OJSC amounted to 86% of its total revenues. In August 2018, the amount of service export by "Azerkosmos" OJSC was 1.3 million US dollars. In the first 8 months in 2018, export of services by “Azercosmos” OJSC was mainly provided to France, Malaysia, UAE, Germany, Georgia and other countries.
The “Export Review” provided that in January-August 2018, 1976.9 thousand of foreigners and stateless persons from 193 countries of the world or 8.5 per cent more than the same period of 2017 have arrived in Azerbaijan. In January-August 2018, the value of foreign currency transactions by bank cards was 888 million manat. Compared to the same period of 2017, the value of foreign currency transactions by bank cards in January-August, 2018 increased by 184 million AZN or 26 percent. In August 2018, the value of foreign currency transactions by bank cards was 141 million AZN and it increased by 39 percent compared to August, 2017.
The "Export Review" also provided information on export orders upon Azexport.az portal in January-August 2018. It was noted that in August 2018 Azexport.az portal received export orders in the amount of 51.5 million US dollars. In total, in January-August 2018 the value of export orders via Azexport.az portal amounted 367 million US dollars. Compared to the same period of 2017, in January-August 2018, the value of export orders via Azexport.az portal increased by 19 percent. It should be noted that from January 2017 to August 31, 2018 (during 20 months), the value of export orders via Azexport.az portal from 103 countries totaled 842 million US dollars.
The "Export Review" also presented information on the activities of the "One Stop Shop" Export Support Center. It was noted that in September 2018 natural and legal entities have been provided with the export certificates via single window by the "One Stop Shop" Export Support Center. The value of the export via the "One Stop Shop" Export Support Center was more than 11.2 million US dollars. Currently, documentation procedures of more than 10 percent of non-oil exports carried out by the "One Stop Shop" Export Support Center.
Also, the September Issue of the “Export Review” provides information on Azerbaijan products to be displayed in the “Worldfood Moscow 2018” exhibition.
